YMCA of WNC joins nationwide campaign to protect kids online

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Five Days of Action campaign is a week-long program designed to share ways to protect children from sexual abuse, especially in digital spaces.

The YMCA of Western North Carolina joins YMCAs across the country in Five Days of Action, which will run from April 13-17.

“Throughout the week, the Y will share resources and provide education to help parents and caregivers navigate the ever-changing digital world,” wrote the YMCA of WNC in a press release. “The YMCA believes that every adult has a role to play in protecting children, online and off.”

This year, the YMCA has partnered with Praesidium, the National Center for Exploited and Missing Children, Lauren’s Kids and the National Children’s Alliance to offer additional resources during the event.

The campaign will teach adults skills like red flag recognition, starting open conversations with kids and how to access digital safety resources. Learn more here.
