ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Searching for weekend plans? Look no further than our weekend guide to the 828, featuring everything from a fly fishing festival to community puppet performances to a record shop basement sale.

Friday, Aug. 22

Five Eight, PINKEYE and “Weirdo: The Story of Five Eight” documentary – 8 p.m., The Grey Eagle, 185 Clingman Ave.

Five Eight released the single “Take Me To The Skatepark” earlier this year, marking their first new music in six years. In addition to a live performance, the band will present a screening of “Weirdo: The Story of Five Eight,” a feature documentary directed by Marc Pilvinsky chronicling the “ups and downs” of the Athens, Georgia band. For PINKEYE, meanwhile, the concert will mark the release of their second studio album, “Better Stay Clear!,” recorded early this year in Arden, N.C.

Montford Park Players present “Cyrano de Bergerac” – 7:30 p.m., Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre, 92 Gay St.

The Montford Park Players continue their 53rd season, “A Season of Lunatics, Lovers, & Poets,” with “Cyrano de Bergerac,” the romantic story of Cyrano, a man with a large nose and a larger wit. Read our review of the show here.

Saturday, Aug. 23

Reems Creek Pottery 10th Anniversary Party – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, 181 Reems Creek Road

To commemorate a decade of making art and as a show of thanks to the Weaverville arts community, the four Reems Creek Pottery potters – Rachel Smith, Eirene Peterson, Travis Burnette and Elaine Karpen – will offer light refreshments, live demonstrations and more at the weekend event.

Harvest Records Basement Sale and 21st Birthday – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., 415 Haywood Road

Harvest Records, the staple music store on Haywood Road, will celebrate its anniversary this weekend with a basement sale, a big discount and – appropriately for its 21st birthday – free beer.

Children’s Entrepreneur Market – 3 to 6 p.m., Olivette Farm, 1069 Olivette Road

The Children’s Entrepreneur Market is an organization committed to teaching kids about money, sales and creativity through empowered entrepreneurship. The program, designed for 5 to 17 year olds, gives children an opportunity to hawk, sell and promote whatever products they want, from baked goods to handmade crafts.

Sunday, Aug. 24

Asheville Creative Arts 10th Anniversary Season Summer Soiree – 1 to 4 p.m., Peace Gardens & Market, 47 Bryant St.

Asheville Creative Arts will commemorate its 10th year of serving the Western North Carolina community with a summertime celebration this weekend, featuring puppetry, live music and food and drink in the historic Burton Street neighborhood gardens.

RISE: A Fly Fishing Festival – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wrong Way River Lodge & Cabins, 9 Midnight Dr.

This free fly fishing festival will feature casting and fly-tying competitions, clinics, kid-friendly programming, raffles, food from Imposter Pizza Co. and Chop Shop Butchery, a Fish Flash Tattoo Studio and live music.
