Friday, Dec. 26

Trolls: A Field Study and Winter Lights – North Carolina Arboretum

Get a good look at all 12 of Thomas Dambo’s troll statues before strolling through the annual Winter Lights display at the N.C. Arboretum. Find tickets and more information at www.ncarboretum.org/trolls-a-field-study.

Sippin’ Santa Pop-Up – 5-10:30 p.m., The Tiki Easy Bar, 197 Hilliard Ave.

The Tiki Easy Bar at Hi-Wire Brewing South Slope has brought back its Sippin’ Santa holiday pop-up for its third year, featuring Christmas island decor, specialty cocktails and other holiday treats. Think “Santa plus surf.”

The Orange Peel will host a family-friendly music night this weekend, complete with free glow accessories, snacks and all the dancing you can muster. Find tickets here.

The JackTown Ramblers’ 500th Show – 8:30-11:30 p.m, Jack of the Wood

Local bluegrass outfit The JackTown Ramblers are heading to Jack of the Wood for their 500th performance this weekend. While the Ramblers are excited to celebrate the milestone, guitarist Steve Bradshaw will be hanging up his instrument after this Saturday’s performance.

Sunday, Dec. 28

The Universal Principles of Kwanzaa – 11 a.m., Center for Spiritual Living Asheville, 2 Science of Mind Way

The Center for Spiritual Living will host an exploration of Kwanzaa this weekend, featuring an examination of the seven values of the holiday and how they serve as guiding foundations for connected communities.

Sunday Funday Movie: “Frozen” – 2-4 p.m., White Horse Black Mountain

White Horse Black Mountain, a nonprofit music venue located in the heart of Black Mountain, N.C., has launched a new family movie series called “Sunday Funday Movie Features.” The series will launch with “Frozen,” the modern animated classic featuring “Let It Go” and starring Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Idina Menzel. ickets to the movie screenings are pay-what-you-can, though the suggested donation price is $5.
