ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Pack Memorial Library is about to get quiet, even by library standards. The downtown Asheville library has announced several upgrades coming to the library, including noise-cancelling personal study rooms.

The personal study rooms, also known as pods, will be arriving this winter, where they will be installed on the far wall of the main floor of Pack Library.

“They will be soundproof, with doors that patrons can close in order to get work done, which I’m being told patrons have been requesting here at Pack Memorial Library,” said Pack Memorial Library employee Julia Hudgins in a video posted to social media.

The wall was previously home to back issues of magazines, which have been moved to nearby library shelving. Current issues of magazines, meanwhile, have been moved in front of the library’s used bookstore, Bookends, where several new reading chairs have been installed.

Additional “cozy reading spaces” will be coming to the main floor of Pack Library soon, Hudgins added.
