Election Day in Weaverville ‘busy’ as Municipal voting continues

WEAVERVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Today is Election Day and Municipal Elections are underway in Weaverville, Woodfin and the Woodfin Water & Sewer District.

According to Weaverville Town Clerk Tamara Mercer, election centers have “been busy. It was definitely busier this morning, but steady all day.”

Precincts 58.1, 59.1, 67.1 and 71.1 are eligible to vote between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the following locations:

Precinct 58.1

North Buncombe Middle School, 51 N. Buncombe School Road

Precinct 59.1

Beech Community Center, 15 Sugar Cove Road

Precinct 67.1

Weaverville Town Hall, 30 S. Main St.

Precinct 71.1

Weaverville Community Center, 60 Lakeshore Drive

Weaverville/Woodfin Municipal Election candidates

In Weaverville, there are two candidates vying for Mayor:

  • Gary Dale “Dee” Lawrence
  • Bruce Andrew Nagle

Lawrence currently serves the town as a member of Weaverville Town Council, an office Nagle previously held from 2015-2023. Mayoral terms in Weaverville are four years.

There are six candidates competing for three seats on the Weaverville Town Council:

  • Phillip Wayne “Phil” Barnett
  • Frederick “Fred” Borth
  • Mark John Endries
  • David Russell King
  • Eleanor Mrozkowski
  • Jennifer Lynn Young

There are four candidates are competing for three seats on the Woodfin Town Council

  • Daniel McLean “Dan” Bowers
  • Philip Gary Cohen, incumbent
  • Maxwell “Chip” Parton III
  • Marcia Shayne “Marcy” Pozner-Thompson
