ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A section of the Blue Ridge Parkway near Devil’s Courthouse reopened Friday following the completion of a landslide repair project, the National Park Service said.

The reopening restores continuous access to more than 85 miles of the scenic roadway, from milepost 382 in Asheville to the park’s southern end at milepost 469 near Cherokee. The Devil’s Courthouse overlook and trail are also open again.

The project, located at milepost 422, is part of an initial round of recovery work addressing multiple landslides caused by Tropical Storm Helene along the parkway in North Carolina. Crews expect to continue repairs through the fall, officials said.

Parkway managers urged visitors to respect remaining closures, citing safety hazards such as heavy equipment, unstable slopes, tree debris and washed-out trails. Assessments of hiking paths are still underway.

The Blue Ridge Parkway, managed by the National Park Service, spans 469 miles through North Carolina and Virginia and is the most visited unit in the national park system.
