ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — More than 30 campsites in Loop A of Julian Price Campground will reopen Friday, Aug. 15, the National Park Service announced.

The sites at milepost 297 will be available by reservation only through the end of October. First-come, first-served camping will not be offered this season. Reservations can be made now at recreation.gov.

The comfort station in Loop A will be open, but the campground shower building remains closed.

Park officials credited skilled arborist crews from Rocky Mountain National Park, Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Blue Ridge Parkway maintenance staff and volunteers for clearing debris and managing hazard trees throughout spring and summer, making the partial reopening possible.

Price Lake Trail is open, but visitors should use caution as some area trails may still contain tree debris, washed-out sections or damaged bridges following Hurricane Helene.

Other parkway campgrounds remain open, including Otter Creek (milepost 60.9, near Lynchburg, Va.), Peaks of Otter (milepost 85.9, near Bedford, Va.), Rocky Knob (milepost 167.1, near Meadows of Dan, Va.), Doughton Park (milepost 239.2, near Sparta, N.C.) and Mount Pisgah (milepost 408.8, near Canton and Brevard, N.C.).
