ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Home projects don’t start with blueprints; they start with questions. The WNC Build and Remodel Expo, produced by the Builders Association of the Blue Ridge Mountains (BABRM), brings those questions directly to our region’s experts.
Slated for March 21–22 at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center, the Expo covers everything homeowners are curious about, from big-picture conversations around custom homes and major renovations to practical advice on smaller upgrades, maintenance, energy efficiency and outdoor living.
The Expo also highlights the creative and educational side of building. Through the Designer Showcase, visitors can explore styled spaces by local designers, while the “Pawrade of Homes” celebrates student-built dog houses and workforce development in the trades.
“The goal of the Expo is to give homeowners great access to local building professionals,” said Jessie Edington, events manager for BABRM. “It is an opportunity to learn what is possible and how to approach projects with confidence.”
Here are five key things homeowners can expect to learn at the Expo.
1. How to plan a successful build or remodel
Whether you are building a new home or remodeling an existing one, the hardest part is often figuring out where to start. At the Expo, homeowners can learn how to budget, plan timelines and make decisions that support their long-term goals.
“Many homeowners come in with ideas about layouts, finishes or updates they want to make, but they’re not always sure how to turn those ideas into a clear plan,” Edington said. “The Expo helps break down the process so they can make confident decisions from the start.”

“Seeing sample materials in person and speaking directly with the people who use them every day is invaluable,” Edington said. “It helps homeowners understand what will work best for their space and their goals.”

“Preventive maintenance is one of the most overlooked parts of homeownership,” Edington said. “The Expo gives people clarity on what actually needs attention so they can protect their investment over time.”
